The outdoor rating hidden on the rear face.

“IP65 outdoor” may describe only the front. Wind-driven rain and maintenance reach the rear, the connectors and every cable entry.

01

Require front and rear ratings separately.

02

Include connectors and installed orientation.

03

Treat drainage and corrosion as system properties.

01

One cabinet has more than one exposure

The display face may shed water well while the service side relies on a lower rating. In a façade or semi-exposed concourse, pressure changes and wind can push water into exactly the side omitted from the headline.

Ask for test documentation that identifies the face, enclosure state and connection condition.

02

Installation changes the enclosure

Cable glands, link covers, ventilation, doors and field penetrations become part of the weather system. A certified cabinet can still fail when installed with water traps or unprotected connectors.

03

IP is not a complete durability specification

UV exposure, corrosion category, condensation, salt, drainage and service access need their own answers. Ingress protection is one line in the outdoor design, not the whole design.
