Sandton Atrium

A 14-metre ribbon above a banking hall with full-height west glass — the hardest ambient condition an indoor wall can be given.

A long, narrow LED ribbon mounted high above a banking hall, holding a cool image against low afternoon sun through full-height west-facing glass.

The constraint

Direct afternoon sun across the display face from 14:00, and a heritage ceiling that would not accept any load above 400 kg.

How it was resolved

We specified Core at 1,500 nits peak rather than the fine-pitch Nano the original brief asked for: at a 6 m minimum viewing distance the pitch difference is invisible, and the brightness headroom is not. Mass came in at 327 kg by using the 337.5 mm cabinet in landscape, which let us drop one full row.

These figures are presented with their operating or measurement condition. For a comparable brief, ask engineering for the relevant cabinet drawing, power and heat calculation, ingress certificate, calibration method and commissioning checks.
